Volunteers NEEDED!
Heritage Days/WELSHfest needs your help to be a success!  We need folks who can staff booths, answer questions, sell ad space in the program, type or word process, dress in period costume, be a tour guide, help set up booths, meet & greet our vendors, preformers, and our guests, "Dysgwch cwrs bach ar babell y dysgwr" - Teach a mini course at the Learner's Tent and/or learn a Welsh Greeting.  Please let Nancy know how and when you can help out.

Festival booth space still available!

A more developed booth area for local crafts people, vendors, groups and organizations has been planned for this year's festival: Ffermwyr Marchnad Ffres a Lleol (Fresh & Local Farmer's Market), Yr Ardal Hanes (The History Area), Celf a Chrefft Parth (Art & Crafts Zone), Pabell Gwybodaeth (Information Tent) and a special area that could only be called: "Mae'r Bythau Heb eu Diffinio". 

The Festival assigns booths first paid/first assigned and maintains a non competive product model for its booths.


Booths Already Assigned: 

The "Mae'r Cynnig ar Brechdan a Chacen Bwth" (The try a sandwich and a cake booth) will be the only food booth and will be run by the Euharlee Valley Historical Society and the St. David's Welsh Society. 

Diodydd Meddal (soft drinks) will be sold by the  Boy Scout troop 

Dwr Ffynnon Potel (bottled spring water) will be sold by the Rockmart Historical Museum.



Booth Cost: $25 for a 12 foot square booth space
Includes: 1/4 page ad in Festival Program (please submit advertising application with Booth request)

A walking tour of Historic Downtown Rockmart has been developed and will be included in this year's Festival Program.

(The 5 Historic Slate Churches)
The 5 Historic Slate Churches, Church of Christ, 1st Baptist,  United Methodist, Presbyterian and Wesley Chapel AME, have been asked to participate, along with the VanWert Chapel,in this year's festival
Gwyl Ffilm Hanesyddol
(Historic Film Festival)
 1) A series of Black & White 'shorts' from Rockmart in the 1950's will be shown during
the day in the Rockmart Historical Museum conference room.
2) A series of Welsh Language 'shorts' produced by S4C, the Welsh Language TV Station, including children's  programs, will be shown.

A Day of Music

Gymanfa Ganu

(Singing Festival)

The Rockmart Community Chorus will return again this year to present a concert, on the steps of the Rockmart Historical Museum, of favorite Welsh Hymns (sung in English) and will end will end their concert leading the audience in singing the Great Welsh Hymn "Cwm Rhondda" (Guide me, O Thou Great Redeemer) in both English and Welsh!

ballybegMae'r Ffurflenni Band Ballybeg!   
The Ballybeg Band Returns!
North Georgia's Premier Celtic Band returns to Rockmart to perform an afternoon of Welsh and other celtic traditional music on the steps of the Museum. Iago Dunning will lead the band and audience in singing Daffyd Iwan's Welsh Patriotic Anthem:  Yma O Hyd (We're Still Here) as the musical finally of the day.

More singing and dancing planned 

Bydd Downtown yn cael ei llenwi seiniau o alwadau dawns wrth i bobl geisio eu traed yn dawnsio gwerin Cymreig, yn ychwanegol at y synau o delynau, beirdd, cantorion a digrifwyr.

Downtown will be filled with the sounds of dance calls as people try their feet at Welsh folk dancing, in addition to the sounds of harps, poets, singers and comedians.

A Day of Learning

I am learning Welsh
Cymerwch gwrs bach yn Mhabell y Dysgwr.
Take a mini course at the Learner's Tent.
We are again offering the Learner's Tent with expanded offerings. Cymraeg Athrawes Jenny will again offer her wildly popular How do I say ... in Welsh? course. Cogydd Carlcymro will be offering two sessions this year: Cig Oen a Cennin and Picau ar y Maen. Added mini course planned for this year include: The Welsh Tour of Georgia, How to Collect an Oral History and The Welsh Harp.

Taith o Amgylch Van Wert Capel
Tours of the Van Wert Chapel
Bus tours past the 5 Historic Slate Churches and out to the Van Wert Chapel will take place all during the day.  Once at the Chapel, period dressed Welsh, 19th Century and Civil War docents will take lead tours of the Chapel and Graveyard pointing out various historic points and what the plans are for the future of the Chapel & Graveyard.

The Miners Fun Walk
A 'Fun Walk' beginning at Adeilad Comet Arian Llwybr ar y Stryd Fawr (The Silver Comet Trail Building Downtown) along the Silver Comet Trail to the Old Train Station and then up S. Marble Street, past the Slate Quarry entrance, ending at y sgwr amgueddfa (museum square). Prizes for best Miner's Costume, funniest Miner's Costume, Best Miner's Lunch Box among other categories.

Not only will there be many great booths to visit and shop at  around 'Amgueddfa Sgwr' (Museum Square) don't forget to check out the great shops and resteraunts that make up y Stryd Fawr Rockmart / Downtown Rockmart.  Many are planning to have WELSHfest Specials.
